Vitamin D

So I went to my regular Dr. a few weeks ago, to get an overall check up. With everything my body as been through, I thought I should check things out.

I had her re-check my Vitamin D. Back in November my Fertility Dr checked it and I was very low. So she put me on an additional 2,000 I.U's a day in addition to what was in my daily vitamins So I was taking about 3,500 I.U's a day.

Since I've met every deductible possible, I told her to check anything and everything that she wanted to :) My lab results all came out great with my regular Dr. except my Vitamin D again. It had slightly increased since November with adding the supplements, however my regular Dr. thought they were extremely low.

She wanted to put me on 50,000 I.U.'s a week! Compared to the roughly 25,000 I'm on.. So since sometime in the future we are planning on trying to use our frozen embryos or trying naturally, I called my Fertility Dr. and she said ABSOLUTELY NO! Although they want to maintain my Vitamin D levels too much Vitamin D can have the adverse effect on trying to get pregnant or carrying a baby. So she suggested just adding foods with it in there but no more supplements besides what she had me on.

So of course I googled.. and googled :)  Vitamin D deficiency is caused by many things, but I'm thinking the main one that I suffer from is Dark skin or people with the tendency to become dark skin during the summer. Their body sucks up all that vitamin D. I'm 1/2 Mexican so I'm assuming my body sucks up my Vitamin D.

So if you are going through infertility... Has your Dr. checked your Vitamin D yet?
