Who knew that having irregular cycles would not only effect my fertility, but it also effects your bones...
So I started walking a few months ago, and a couple of weeks ago, I decided to add Running to half of my walk... well that ended up with two MRI's last Friday, one on each knee.. guess what.. I have a stress Fracture on each knee.. VERY painful and not fun! I wish I had an awesome story as to why both not just one.. both knees are injured.. but I don't....
Women are more likely than men to develop stress fractures. Women with irregular or absent periods are at particularly high risk for low bone density.
I've read numerous articles about Stress fractures, of course everything says REST REST REST!!
Don't have time for that.. lol it also says to make sure you are taking enough Calcium and Vitamin D especially women with low bone density.
The average woman is supposed to have a minimum of 500-700 mg - a maximum of 1,000 mg a day of Calcium and an minimum of 2, 000- a maximum of 4,000 mg of Vitamin D a day.
I already knew I was deficient in Vitamin D and have been taking supplements for that.. I wonder if I am deficient in Calcium? Started taking supplements this week for that.. I'm going to be supplemented out before you know it LOL Just don't take my fries away and we'll be good :-)
I've also read that a low BMD - Low Bone Mineral Density can cause women to be infertile? Go figure... I swear if I could go back in time I would have taken extra special care of my body... instead of waiting until I'm older...
It's amazing how everything connects to something in your body... who would of thought me trying to be more healthy walking / running would cause me to have two injured knees.... I am enjoying the pampering from my husband though and very thankful I have such an amazing Husband :-)
Other than that Life's pretty good... we are enjoying the lake on the weekends... except for this crazy rain lately... my housework has suffered.. but hey you only live life once.. So just don't come over unexpected anytime soon, you might fall over especially if you know me well, you know that my house can be very clean and I still think it's dirty :-)
I hope all is well with everyone else... Love, Angie
